2026 CROSSFIT OPEN

BATTLE FOR THE BOX

REGISTRATION IS OFFICIALLY LIVE FOR THE 2026 CROSSFIT OPEN

The Open is a series of workouts spaced across three weeks. Individuals can do the workouts from anywhere in the world and submit their scores on the CrossFit Games online leadboard. The CrossFit Open is the first qualifying round for athletes looking to make it to the CrossFit Games. (If you're new here, the Games is like the Super Bowl of CrossFit.)

For those of us not quite looking to make it the Games, every year Be Strong hosts Battle for the Box: a localized community celebration of fitness. Be Strong athletes will "battle it out" to find out who is truly the best in the box! Basically, it's your chance to show off your Be Strong pride by representing your team with weekly themes and doing fun, fit things with friends.

We will have two teams trying to accumulate the most points across the span of three weeks. Each team member can score points for their team by achieving the following markers.

GIRLS VS. BOYS

| 1 Point for each |
-Dressing in theme
-Keeping score for an athlete (limit 1 point)
-Posting an IG story picture at selfie station and tagging Be Strong
-Completing the Open WOD

Week 1: Friday Feb 27
Week 2: Friday March 6
Week 3: Friday March 13
__

You do not have to register for the Open to participate in Battle. You'll be participating simply by showing up to class on Fridays like normal. If you're craving some competition and want to see where you stand worldwide, registration goes live on January 14th.

Regular class times and workouts will be put out by CrossFit LLC the Thursday prior. All levels are welcome to participate: RX, Scaled, Beginner, Age group and Disability.

The winning team each week will get to vote on the following week's theme!

TEAM GIRLS were the winners of the December Food Wars, so they will pick the theme for Week 1. All theme voting will take place on Be Strong's Instagram stories the weekend leading up to each themed Friday, with the chosen theme being announced the Sunday prior to the Open, so keep your eyes open for weekly announcements on our newsletter, Sugarwod, and Instagram.

What is the CrossFit Open?

Structurally, the Open is a series of workouts spaced across three weeks. Individuals can do the workouts from anywhere in the world and submit their scores on the CrossFit Games online leadboard. The CrossFit Open is first qualifying round for athletes looking to make it to the CrossFit Games. (If you're new here, the Games is like the Super Bowl of CrossFit.)

I'm not an RX athlete - Can I still participate in the Open?

The Open is for everyone! Similar to your daily workouts at Be Strong, you'll find a division that's right for you.

Here are some of the divisions you will be placed in based on age and gender:

  • Individual - All athletes aged 18-34 will be placed in the individual division.
  • Age Groups - There are nine age group divisions for teenage athletes aged 14-17 as well as masters athletes ages 35+.

Once you are placed in a division, you will have the opportunity to choose a variation of the workout based on your fitness level:

  • RX'd - Do the workouts as written. This is the most challenging option, yet many individuals have moved from scaled to Rx’d as they progress from year to year.
  • Scaled - Not quite ready to tackle the workouts as written? No problem. The scaled division offers classic scaling options for many of CrossFit’s common gymnastics movements and includes lighter loading.
  • Foundations - Just started CrossFit or maybe this is your first Open? The foundations workouts are a great place to start.

What if I don't want to register for the Open but still want to participate?

Not everyone will sign up to see where their scores rank worldwide and that's okay. That's where Battle For The Box comes in - Be Strong will be hosting our very own simplified version of the Open in-house, using the same workouts seen in the Open.

The workouts programmed during the Open are no different than those you perform at Be Strong each day. Come prepared to work towards becoming 1% Better.

Will we be dressing up as Adam Sandler again this year?

Only if you can convince Coach Katie to make a guest appearance.

Do I need to sign up for Battle For the Box if I'm not signing up for the Open?

Nope. The sign up link above is only for those wanting to officially submit their scores to compete in the Open.

To participate in Battle For the Box, simply reserve your class time on Zen Planner per usual and show up to class.

How is the Community Cup different from the Open?

The Community Cup is a fun, affiliate-based online competition to gauge where you sit against other athletes of similar abilities.

  • Complete the Open to receive your official competition level, grouping you with other similarly skilled athletes, regardless of age or location.
  • Once the Open leaderboard is finalized and levels have been set, CrossFit will send invites to athletes for each tier competition. Levels will be identified based on placement in the Open as Rookie (Levels 1-2), Novice (Levels 3-4), Intermediate (Levels 5-6), Advanced (Levels 7-8), and Pro (Levels 9-10).
  • Use the time between the Open and Community Cup to tackle areas of your fitness you want to improve.
  • From June 9-15, compete in the Community Cup in your assigned tier based on your level from the Open. The competition will run similarly to the Open in that athletes will complete three workouts at an affiliate, submit scores online, and see their rankings on the leaderboard.
